THIS MEANS WAR
v
This Means War
is about two CIA agents who fight over one pretty
woman using the agency's
surveillance tools to discover her likes &
dislikes and to sabotage each other's dates with
her.
There's not one iota of reality in this ridiculous
plot; and you could say it's very illegal as well.
I found the film
an embarrassment and not terribly clever in this spy
v spy formula.
Mixing a romantic comedy with a
super spy thriller just didn't work for me.
I'll try and be good and just say it's really dumb.
It's
a love triangle with a twist -- best friends and
coworkers dating the same girl.
She's a products tester, they're undercover agents
whose identities have been exposed at the
beginning of the film.
Will laughter and romance win out?
The only comedy comes from Reese's raunchy
alcoholic BFF.
I guess they don't make romantic comedy spy
thrillers like they used to.
I thought the tone of this
action romantic comedy was messed up by the
filmmakers.
The action look
shows up at the beginning and at the end.
It is jokey action like those in the Bond movies,
but it's
clumsily introduced, making neither excitement nor
humor.
At the center of the film is a stupid
romantic triangle.
The problem in my view lies in the direction,
acting, and the screenplay.
