The third installment of the Ocean franchise
has a new fun story line -- all about revenge, not just how to
steal all the loot from the big hotel casino, but how to make
a super casino go broke.
I found it most entertaining how many ways
and the effort to rig all the games to make them not function.
That was half the fun.
The brutal plan is simple -- break the
bank and put them out of business.
Fun, fun! |
As the summer of threequels continues,
here's a pleasant surprise.
Ocean's Thirteen
is better than its sequel, but not as good as the original.
If you're going to see a movie like this,
you pretty much know what you're in for -- glamorous movie stars
playing thieves, pulling off an elaborate heist to the tune of
"Cool," along with split-screen action to make it look
even cooler.
Yes, you've seen it all before, but it's
still fun. |
Ocean's Thirteen
is a straight revenge story where character development has been
set aside in order to keep things clicking.
There are so many famous faces together
in one place that it's fun to watch each character get his moment.
I liked the old-fashioned way the movie
has been made and presented, and the way it intentionally raises
memories of the original Rat Pack, evoking Frank Sinatra by name
and song. |
