Monster
is the true story of the first female serial killer who, was
executed in Florida in 2002--a prostitute convicted of murdering
six men.
As graphic as some scenes are, they're
all necessary and really give the audience insight into what's
going through the killer's mind at any given time.
There's some powerhouse performances by
all the actors, and the impact of the story will stick, well
after you leave the theater. |
Charlize Theron gives an outstanding performance
in this story of serial killer/prostitute, Aileen Wuornos.
Not your typical biopic, this bitter slice
of seedy Americana shows us the various events that lead to the
murders, and, ultimately, how circumstances can change our lives,
and sometimes our lives . . . forever. |
Monster is
the real-life story of a Florida woman who was abused from an
early age, and who grew up to become a prostitute--the rough-and-tumble
kind who turns her tricks while hitchhiking.
She eventually took to killing her customers,
first for self-defense, then for money to support herself and
her lover, a total of seven before she was caught in 1991.
She was executed by lethal injection in
2002.
Her story is an ugly one, but also very
compelling and thought-provoking.
It's an unsettling drama for sure, and
an Oscar performance by the star, Charlize Theron. |
