This week's reviewed movie is:
Flags of Our Fathers

Gene the Barber

Snick the Sidekick

Gordie the Barber

It's the customary intelligent directing by Clint Eastwood.

With wide-screen cinematography, this superb production is quite successful in dramatizing this true story and dividing up the film between glimpses of the actual battle and the process of the men's three surviving flag raisers, showing just how the story unfolds.

It helped me learn some history about 1945 I didn't know.

You should not miss this one.

Flags of Our Fathers is the true story behind the story of Iwo Jima--its battle, its historic flag raising, and its aftermath.

Although not the war epic one would imagine from the trailers, it is still a powerful tale of heroes and heroism deftly handled by Clint Eastwood, who directed and also wrote the musical score.

Flags of Our Fathers is a very gripping and graphic movie, with spectacular visuals of U.S. Armed Forces in action on land and sea.

The film captures the horrors of combat and gives a truthful assessment of the war and the history behind it.
