All you should know about District 9
is it's a science fiction movie about controlling aliens from
another world who have invaded Johannesburg, South Africa and
have been there for 20 years.
Things are getting out of control and the
government is trying to move them all to another location, called
District 10.
This is no average run-of-the-mill alien
invasion film, and I really recommend it highly and consider
it to be one of the most different stories -- told with surprising
new twists. |
District 9
is a unique sci-fi done in a faux documentary style.
Alien immigrants arrive on Earth, and humans
put them in a shelter that eventually becomes a ghetto.
As racism and crime escalate, a huge multi-national
corporation (and weapons manufacturer) decides it's time to move
the aliens to a new facility.
It's sci-fi mixed with humor and social
commentary, as both tension and smart filmmaking come into play.
It's a tense, tight, and completely fresh
look at alien invasion and its aftermath. |
Producer Peter Jackson thinks the movie
District 9 is "unlike anything you've ever seen."
It has a mix of documentary and dramatized
scenes.
This is a science fiction message film
that's stuffed with great effects and plot twists that outdo
all the old alien invasion flicks of the past.
The tale has depth and thought-provoking
ideas with more than enough space for shoot-outs, explosions,
and R-rated violence. |
