On July 14, 1994, at a dedication ceremony attended by dignitaries, historians, friends of Ed Ricketts and John Steinbeck, and other well-wishers, the City of Pacific Grove renamed High Street "Ricketts Row." The corner of Ricketts Row and Fountain Avenue marks the site of Ricketts' first lab, and the corner of Ricketts Row and 11th Street is the location of Steinbeck's cottage. 
     
     
Continue down to Central Avenue and make a right turn at the stop sign. Continue on to 11th Street and make a right turn. On your left about half-way up the block (at the corner of Ricketts Row) is a red ivy-covered cottage. This is the . . .
