Butterfly Parade

  Held in early October, local kindergarden children dress as Monarchs and welcome the returning insects. Older elementary school kids also join in and welcome the returning butterflies to their winter home. The parade is followed by a Butterfly Bazaar at Robert Down School: (831) 646-6540.  
       
Candy Cane Lane   The area surrounding Platt Park off of Forest Avenue becomes a winter wonderland in December, with Christmas decorations galore.

Feast of Lanterns   The week-long festival held near the end of July includes a pancake breakfast, street dance, salad fest, pet parade, and a Saturday night pageant that includes the dramatic recreation by gem-related princesses of the legend told on blue willow china, followed by fireworks. Good Old Days

Lyceum of Monterey County   The Lyceum's mission is to stimulate the individual creativity and intellectual promise in children through enrichment classes that aim to inspire a life-long love of learning.  
       
Marching Band Festival   Traditionally held in early November, when approximately 30 high school bands compete in marching and field competitions. Sponsored by Pacific Grove High School Music Program:

  Cool exhibits include Sandy the Whale out front, a hands-on touch gallery, whale eye in a bottle, and a giant squid. The museum offers free admission.

  This city department offers a number of classes and activities of interest to children ranging in age from toddlers to teens. They publish a quarterly Activity Guide, available free at the department.

  This multi-story building houses teen programs, and is open to Pacific Grove students in grades 6 - 12.
