This is a start to finish adrenalin pumping
action story about a real runaway train incident -- carrying
toxic waste and rolling along at 70 to 80 m.p.h. over hill and
dale.
Denzel Washington and Chris Pine have good
chemistry together, bonding the viewers with our heroes.
I thought it was just another ho-hum dumb
film, but Unstoppable is an intelligent movie that provides
the right mix of action, humor, drama, and fine acting.
I give it a scissors up. |
Talk about disasters!
An engineer near retirement and a rookie
trainee must stop a driverless train (nicknamed "The Beast")
full of toxic chemicals headed for another train full of schoolchildren
in a highly populated area -- kinetic and loud.
This film manages to stack one disaster
on top of another and still keep both action and suspense going,
despite its ridiculous plotting and inane conversations.

Solid action director Tony Scott teams
up for the fifth time with super star Denzel Washington to tell
a tale that sounds a little far-fetched.
But the movie is inspired by a true story
that took place in Ohio in 2001.
It's a real race against time thriller
about a runaway train loaded with toxic chemicals and speeding
towards a populated city.
The action is fast-paced and the filmmaker
declares the stunts were the the hairiest he's ever shot.
Coming from the man behind Top Gun, that
is saying something.
I could see they were very dangerous and
risky feats of skill to perform on a fast-moving topflight unstoppable
train. |
