RIO

v
Rio is a comedy adventure about a very rare blue male macaw parrot who travels with his human owner from Minnesota to Rio de Janeiro to meet his new mate and breeding partner, but must contend with human bird smugglers who want to capture both and sell them for big bucks.

I found what worked best for me  is the visuals, with its glorious display of color and nicely crafted animation.

Yet just a pretty picture does not make a good animated movie alone.

Again, I found and say for the youngsters, "Yeah, Yeah." For the grownups, scissors sideways.
Follow our flightless hero as he travels from the snowbound flats of Mooselake, Minnesota to the sunny skies of Rio in this fish-out-of-water story about parrots.

There he has strange encounters with other birds, monkey fights, and flights of fancy -- what some animals will go through just to perpetuate their species!

It's a colorful story filled with the samba beat that is "kid friendly" and adult "been there, done that."
Rio is a good-natured children's animated comedy from the talented creators of Ice Age.

The opening musical arrangement stars the exotic birds of Brazil in choreographed flight.

The computer-generated animation is so colorful that it becomes like a breathtaking, beautiful visual trip to Brazil's Rio de Janeiro.

The film's humor elements are focused at those in the 5- to 8-year-old range.

Everything else, like the story and action, is set up at a grade-school level.

Rio should be a lot of fun for the kids.
