Monsters vs. Aliens is not terrible, by any means; but a great picture
it's not.
The kids should like it, but I doubt they'll
fall in love with it either.
It has its share of humorous moments and
some good lines with some familiar sci-fiction looks of the 1950s.
The 3D brought out some of the digital
effects that make it seem better, but you have to look hard to
find something new you haven't seen before. |
The 3-D jumps off the screen, but the flat
script keeps it there.
Too complicated for youngsters and too
hip for oldsters, Monsters vs. Aliens manages to take
first-rate voice talent and completely miss the mark.
It spends so much time trying to dazzle
us with 3-D that it forgets that gags are supposed to be followed
by punchlines.
As usual, Stephen Colbert steals the scenes
he's in, but not enough to make this film worthwhile. |
The animated flick called Monsters
vs. Aliens is about the best or choicest members of a small
group of oddballs who must defeat some evil aliens who land on
Earth.
This movie is a science fiction adventure
for children, especially those below the age of reason.
The film has some great visual images
and action sequences in San Francisco, with some thrilling chases
up and down the hills that should at least entertain the young
kids. |
