Not knowing very much about The Green Lantern comic books, I found the movie had too many action scenes where the visual effects took over: also the writers are torn between serious and making jokes, ending up with a mishmash of ideas. Some good, and some bad.

There's just too much information shoved at you, making this whole film beg for a coherent, well-told story.

I'm sure some will find this worthwhile, but for myself, it didn't make the grade.
This movie should be great: good actors and mind-blowing special effects.

But it's short on plot (like most origins) and public appeal (Green, who?)

The intergalactic police might work in the comic books, but the best thing this film has going for it is the narration by Geoffrey Rush.

Otherwise it is extremely average.
The idea of a comic book superhero Green Lantern movie has been floating around for many years.

I thought the results to be disappointing.

As original stories go, this one would seem to have the potential to be innovative with something new.

Unfortunately, the filmmakers do their best to force the film's unusual uniqueness into the unexpected story.

In the end, the outcome makes the picture seem assembled from bits and pieces of other superhero tales rather than existing on a platform of its own.
