AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS

I found America's Sweethearts to be a cute, charming, and smart Hollywood romance with a top-notch cast of actors.

I thought it was a better-than-average movie, and just can't understand how some critics rate their films. They really trashed this one.

It isn't supposed to be taken seriously. Take it for what it is. It's a spoof with added laughs and drama mixed in.

Although a little predictable, people coming out of the theater liked it…and so did I.

After all its hype--I went into the theater expecting this movie to be terrible, and was pleasantly surprised.

This light comedy doesn't have a strong enough script to warrant its star power, but it was an agreeable romp through the twisted world of the Hollywood press junket.

More amusing than amazing, it's a piece of fluff that is sure to do well…on video.

Average

(Gordy sings "You do something to me.")

One thing that mystifies or puzzles me about this romantic comedy is that the film doesn't involve our compassion or make us care about the characters or their happiness.

Another sour point is its PG-13 rating. The movie has tasteless sexual jokes and raw language. This kind of material sometimes works well in adult screwball comedy, but (in my view) it was targeted for adolescents and for cheap laughs and should have been rated R.
